Joe teaches guitar in Kennewick and is married to Sharon Scharnhorst who is now a retired teacher from the Pasco district. Kenneth Finley is a minister in the Tacoma area. Julie is an artist who makes furniture out of tree branches & Patty is a teacher in California.

Joe and Ken used to play and sing at church and in Seekers (West Side United Protestant college and career age youth group with participants from most Richland churches)

Gordon Kjellberg played music since the mid-sixties and was a member of The Enchanters, The Liberty Party (Jerden Records),   Merrilee & the Turnabouts,  The Feelies   (Jerden Records),  Cherry Fizz,  Blue Mountain Eagle and The Rockets.

Kathy Belanich (now Kathy Childers) still plays music and is with the Seattle band  City Zu.  Occasionally Jerry Zu and Kathy Childers perform as a duo called the Magnetics and they do 60s tunes," the kind some of us remember from the KJR top 4o days when the music had a good beat  and you could dance to it."

Among the most talented and charming all girl gospel singing groups in the Northwest are Gloria, Carolyn and Cathaleen, who are known as the "Country Crugers."  Wherever they appear at church gatherings, people are always impressed by this trio's pure "country" style, - yet precise harmony and original arrangements.  It is little wonder they blend so nicely however, as they have been singing together since they were old enough to carry a tune.

Their musical careers and personal lives of dedication to the Lord have been under the steady and talented direction of their mother, Virginia, who accompanies the girls on the piano.

They have appeared repeatedly in Conventions, Youth for Christ Rallies, Camp Meetings and local churches in the State of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and as far as Springfield, Missouri, also on Radio and Television.

Gloria, who is 21, is a working girl in an accounting office.  Along with her singing talent, taking the tenor part, she plays the piano and accordian.

Carolyn, 19, the "Tom Boy" is a sophomore in college.  Besides playing the bass fiddle with the group, her outside home chores of chopping wood, milking the cow, and helping to build the family house keeps her busy.

Cathaleen, 17, a senior at East Valley High School does most of the lead and solo worl.  She plays the piano for the school choir.

This inspiring collection of old and new songs of faith is the second album by the Country Crugers.  If you like good country gospek singing, we're sure you will enjoy many hours of pleasurable listening herein.

Jesus-rock pioneers Wilson McKinley are a fascinating footnote in the annals of psychedelia--minor legends in their native Pacific Northwest, they are generally considered the first secular band to forsake the ample pleasures of the flesh in favor of forging lives and music devoted to spreading the Christian gospel.

The Wilson McKinley formed in Spokane, Washington in 1968, originally comprising singer/guitarist Mike Messer, singer/bassist Don Larson, guitarist Randy Wilcox and drummer Tom Slipp; at its inception the group played secular psychedelia very much in the spirit of its times, earning a regional following on the strength of their layered harmonies and folk-inspired arrangements.

Through circumstances unknown, they earned the notice of record exec Al Sherman, whose Alshire label made its living via budget-priced copycat LPs of Sixties pop hits, all recorded by prefab studio groups. Virtually all of the bands in question--Fats and the Chessmen, Los Norte Americanos and the Bakersfield Five among them--were helmed by producer and songwriter Gary Paxton, best known for composing the novelty smash "The Monster Mash." At Sherman's request, Paxton put together a group dubbed the California Poppy Pickers to capitalize on the growing country-rock trend; there were four Poppy Pickers LPs in all, each made up of covers and thinly-veiled rewrites, and for reasons unknown, the fourth and final album Honky Tonk Women was recorded without Paxton's involvement, with the studio musicians populating the previous three replaced by the members of the Wilson McKinley.

The Wilson McKinley often headlined a Voice of Elijah-owned Spokane coffeehouse called the I Am, testing out new material in front of their most fervent fans--they also played the occasional secular rock festival, albeit usually in the hopes of attracting new members to the flock. The Wilson McKinley's sophomore album Spirit of Elijah appeared in the summer of 1971--recorded during a single overnight session sans editing or overdubs, the album suggested secular antecedents like Moby Grape and the Moody Blues (whose "It's Up to You" appears in modified form). Sold exclusively through advertisements in the Voice of Elijah's free newspaper the TRUTH

Born in 1938 in Spokane, Washington, Gary Williams had his own sponsored radio show out of Spokane, Washington in 1953-1954. In May 1954 he achieved a bit of name for himself by hitch-hiking to the Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Day in Meredian, Mississippi. He was one of the featured acts on the show then and had been going back to the show each year since.
Williams was heavily influenced by Jimmie Rodgers, the country music pioneer of the 1930's, and the Jimmie Rodgers fan-club christened him 'The Travellin' Blues Boy'. This became the title of his first record for Verve, the West Coast label.

Probably not related to any of all others bands of the same name. I don't have the title of the flip side. The only tiny bit of information that I can find is courtesy of the Pacific Northwest Bands discography (1954 - 1979 and their later bands 1980 to Present :

Bob Bissell, a member of the Pharos, says :

About 1965, the first Tri-CIties battle of the bands was held in Columbia Park. I played in the group the Pharos from Kennewick, Washington and it was held on three flat bed trucks at the east end of the park. Also in the event were the Pastels from Pasco and the Esquires from Richland.
