Instrumentals by a band from Oklahoma on the Rocket custom label. The Rocket label were just one of dozen of custom labels produced by the Globe recording studios in Nashville, Tennessee [Ray & Lindy, Bob Rhule, The Velvets & more]. Guitarist Hank Titus were also in a band from Bristow, Oklahoma in the early sixties.

Does anyone have any information on The Willows or Rocket Records
ReplyDeleteHello... Amos Henry Titus was my dad. So great to see the picture above of him and his guitar. Jim Titus, co-writer of Trail of Tears, is my uncle. He told me after my dad got out of the Air Force back in 1960 they began working on writing and composing their own music. Trail of Tears was contracted with Rocket Records in Nashville. The Willows performed the song. Dad didn't perform in the Willows. He later was involved with a local band called the Counts. They performed locally around Bristow, Oklahoma and the rest of the state. During my dad's time in the Air Force, he was in a musical duo called Mort and Hank. The gentleman who played "Mort" turned out to be later in the years ahead as the singing train hobo BoxCar Willie. Just a little interesting backstory in my dad's musical career. Thanks again for the great photo.
